Stop – the braking news on squeling, stretching and leaking

At Coh&Co we believe that riding a bike is one of life’s elixirs, capable of transforming any day into a more rewarding experience. As great as it is to soar through city streets, an urban bike needs to be able to stop suddenly when one day a kid runs out in front of you, or a distracted motorist cuts you off as they make a last second right turn without signalling. Bicycle brakes are probably the most important performance feature of a bicycle.

Reflecting on the sun and the planets

Internal gear systems have been around for a long long time and since their beginnings in the mid-1890s, the largest majority have been based on a planetary gear system. Here at Coh&Co we rely on Shimano’s high-end, Alfine internal hub gears and offer both the 8 spd and the 11 spd version. We believe the Alfine offers a fantastic level of value and performance so that is where we have focused our Internal gear hub efforts.

The evolution of a streetwise Siggi

As many are aware, last summer we debuted our new folding bicycle which we named Siggi and presented her to the world on Indiegogo. Siggi is unique in many ways, being the first folding bike in the history of the world to be made of recyclable carbon fiber and sporting a dynamic combination of mini-velo techs such as lefty style front fork, Stainless steel baggage carrier, hydroelastic front & rear suspension, Adjustable steering geometry, Folding handlebars, disk brakes, an option for a Zehus electric motor with built-in battery and KERS, the possibility for a belt drive, 20” wheels and last but not least a profoundly sporty riding experience. Our first bikes were so inspiring that I chose to test one by riding it from Copenhagen to Vienna, Austria just to get to know it and understand what portions of the design would need to be developed before entering into production.

StoneWeave: Why carbon?

We at Coh&Co are quite focused on understanding our role in a new urban mobility landscape. Our mission is to get more people out riding their bicycles because we believe that riding to work is not only more environmentally friendly, it also makes for a happier healthier commute. Our cities today, so filled with the hustle and bustle of morning traffic should look forward to a morning and evening procession of cyclists with bells instead of horns and with a smile instead of a scornful grimace.

Revisiting the roots of our classic proprietary dropout

Here at Coh&Co, we are great fans of modularity. Our modular design journey began with the development of our dropouts and we believe that this approach has given us a unique opportunity to tune and service our models in a manner very unique to Coh&Co all while offering longer product life cycles and flexibility without having to sacrifice performance.

VeloSled means versatility and ride

When we first conceived the VeloSled we did so knowing that we wanted to move the user experience into the realm of what they in the car world call the sport utility. Our vision encompassed a versatile vehicle that seamlessly transitions from a cargo bed to a passenger cockpit for kids, offering a spacious bed for two children or even an adult. We aimed for cockpit-style seating that effortlessly transforms into an enclosed cabin, all while delivering an exceptionally responsive and well-accelerating ride – hence the “sport” element in the name.

“So What’s the Deal with the Rubber Band?”

Belt-driven bicycles often catch people’s attention and spur a bunch of questions. Belts are ideal for urban bikes, internal gear touring bikes, single speeds and fixies: and that is why we choose them whenever we believe it makes sense. Despite their many advantages, belts are however often misunderstood. So why would you want to swap out your trusty (remember the “t”) chain and replace it with a belt?

Shelter from the storm

We firmly believe that cycling year-round is entirely feasible with the right attire, but being a passenger is an entirely different experience. Our VeloSled cargo bikes are perfect for transporting kids, family, and groceries, but we understand the need for a protective space when the weather turns harsh. That’s why we’ve developed the SledTent, a solution that quickly unfolds to provide a snug shelter for VeloSled passengers, no matter the weather.

The Power of Zehus

Erik Urban Electric

Electric bikes have become a solid part of the urban mobility scene, and while we here at Coh&Co love the way in which e-bikes augment our range and make a ride a bit more exhilarating, we are cyclists at heart. This is why we have chosen to partner with Zehus for our Erik urban electric and Siggi models to provide a non-intrusive human cycling experience with a dash of bionic fun.

VeloSled Anna – Weaving tapestries

For over 4,000 years, the dogsled has been more than just a mode of
transportation. For the Inuit, their ‘qamutiit’ has been a lifeline
across the vast open tundra. In a rhythmic symphony of paws and runners gliding over snow, it weaves stories of connection, resilience, and unity. Uniting distant relatives, an expedition on the family’s dogsled is a shared adventure for the entire family—a journey where the destination is not just a place but a shared experience, an enriching tapestry of life lived under the endless sky.
